Yes! The tour has four starting points: North Diamond Lake, OR; Chemult, OR; north of Fort Klamath, OR; and the junction between OR 230 and Highway 62. Just make sure that you follow the numbers in chronological order from where you are starting.

If you don’t begin at one of the tour starting points you’ll miss a few stories, but you’ll still have a great experience.

Travelers can begin the tour at any park entrance and have the option of driving clockwise or counterclockwise around Crater Lake. (We recommend driving around the lake counterclockwise for the easiest access to the overlooks.)

Shaka Guide isn’t just about getting from point A to point B—it’s like having a local tour guide in your pocket.

As you walk, the app shares stories, history, local insights, and directions based on where you are. We’ve planned the route for you, but you can still explore at your own pace, pause the tour, skip stops, or spend more time wherever you like.

It’s not just about getting there—it’s about discovering the stories behind the places you’re visiting.

Still have questions? Send us an email at aloha@shakaguide.com or give us a call at (808) 201-8138.

Think of us as your personal tour guide in an app. Our tours provide everything a guided tour does, but with the freedom to explore on your terms. Here’s how it works:

  • GPS triggers audio narration to play automatically as you drive or walk. Listen to stories, get local insights, visit must-see stops and get turn-by-turn navigation.
  • The app works offline so even with spotty service we’ll get you where you need to go.

Pretty cool huh? We think so! Check out our tours and let’s explore together.

Just got finished w the road to Hana and it was great w the tour guide on this app. Highly recommend w all the Hawaiian facts and background music. Little sketch right after Hana city. And this app really keeps you informed w safety info about the road/drivers. GREAT APP and FEATURES. 20$ for the Road to Hana and worth every penny. 🤙🏽

I downloaded this app for a recent trip to Maui. I thought it might be interesting on a trip to Hana. I ended up purchasing all of the Maui trips, and I’m glad I did. Without planning we went up the west Maui coastline, and turned the app on. It was both informative and helpful. This drive is way more difficult than the road to Hana, so having the guide made a difference. The guide for the road to Hana is a must have. The information and music were great and made it fun. But the best part for anyone with a reservation at Wai’anapanapa black sand beach it’s very necessary. The guide gives you periodic updates on your time- how much further to the park, so you’ll know how much time to spend on the trip. We left Kahului early with a 12:30 reservation. I was concerned about getting there on time, but not early. The guide tells you at stops how much further there is to go so you can relax and take your time at the stops not worrying that you’ll miss your reservation. I made it to the park 5 minutes before my reservation time, and they let us in a little early. It was perfect. I recommend this app for anyone traveling in the islands. A lot of effort went into making this work perfectly. It’s worth the money!

I’ve used this app all over the Us from Boston to Maui. It never fails to entertain and educate. I love the history lessons, music, and fun. The app is so easy to use. Thank you

This app is awesome! It made our trip to Kauai so special. We were guided to places we never would have known about. We appreciated the background stories, the explanations, the jokes and the music playlists. Our gang highly recommends the family of guides. You don’t often don’t experience apps that are this great!

We did the road to hana. I will admit it was a little rough after purchasing through viator then getting the app to redeeming in the app was rough. But it was all very informative very entertaining. Allowed us to see spots we would have missed gave us heads up where we can park, use the restroom, and grab something to eat. We only had one snag and that was on the way back. we stopped at the three bears just past the falls so I could run back for a photo. it told us about it a mile later.

I cannot recommend Shaka Guide enough. My wife and I absolutely love the tours and all that comes with it. We don't take trips anymore without looking to see what Shaka Guide has around.

This self guided tour app is amazing. We took a paid tour the day before and decided to head back to Hilo the next day for some more detailed visiting and this self guided tour fit the bill perfectly. hit some of the points that had been mentioned the day before and then added to the places to see. Would definitely recommend. The only thing I would want to add to the app would be a speedometer and the speed limits of the current section of road like Google Maps or Waze.
