West Maui is home to a picturesque coastline, popular resort towns, and renowned snorkel spots. Drive around the West Maui mountain range in a loop! Check out ancient Hawaiian petroglyphs, a Dragon tooth hiking trail, and the popular Nakalele Blowhole. It will blow your mind! Of course, there are tons of beaches and viewpoints all along the way.

Here are just a few of the fun things you can do on the tour:

• Visit Maui Ocean Center
• Discover ancient Petroglyphs
• Check out the Nakalele Blowhole
• Snorkel at Honolua Bay
• Explore the Dragon Tooth trail

***IMPORTANT DRIVING ADVISORY***
This tour includes Kahekili Highway, a narrow and winding coastal road with tight lanes and blind curves that some visitors find challenging. After visiting the Nakalele Blowhole, drivers will have the option to turn around instead of completing the full loop. If you’re uncomfortable with narrow mountain roads or traveling with nervous passengers, we strongly recommend taking the turnaround option and prioritizing safety.

Best Privately Guided Tour

We were traveling with our family - my wife, our 14-year-old son, and me - and this was the first time we tried using an app-based guided tour. We usually prefer in-person guided tours, but in Maui the cost for three people was much higher than we wanted to spend. We decided to give this app a try, and it turned out to be one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had. From the very beginning, the guide set the perfect tone for the day, helping us relax, enjoy the journey, and understand what to expect. Throughout the tour, we felt as if we had a private guide sitting right next to us. The information was delivered at exactly the right moments, and the guide shared countless fascinating details about the places we visited as well as the history and culture of the island. What impressed us most was that it never felt like we were listening to an app. It genuinely felt like a knowledgeable local expert was accompanying us every step of the way. We learned so much more than we expected and discovered many interesting facts we would have completely missed on our own. In many ways, we actually preferred this experience to a traditional guided tour. We could travel at our own pace, spend extra time at the places we loved, and skip stops that were less interesting to us. Instead of being told where to go and how long to stay, we had complete flexibility while still receiving expert guidance. The tour took us nearly 12 hours to complete, yet the time flew by. We were genuinely sad when it ended. It was engaging, informative, relaxing, and incredibly enjoyable from start to finish. We are already looking forward to our next trip and can’t wait to explore with this guide again. Highly recommended!!! 🤙

You need this app!

If anyone is doing the Road to Hana soon, I would highly recommend downloading the Road to Hana Guide on the Shaka App. It was incredible! It was only $25 and it works without cellular service. It is a basically an app that syncs with your GPS and tells you what spots you will be hitting as you approach them. It also gives you tips on parking, safety, and some history about all the stops. They even let you know about when restrooms and food is coming up on the drive (which is super helpful). Additionally, the music they add in the tour is super calming on the drive. The history on the ride back was presented in an interesting way and this was by far not a boring tour at all! If you’re doing the drive on your own, you should definitely download this app because you can basically turn off your brain and enjoy the ride because the narrator of the app tells you what’s coming up so you don’t have to keep checking your GPS. Get this app for a peace of mind!

Amazing guide!

We did the Road to Hana tour as well as the Sunset at Haleakala tour and they were both amazing! I had a car full of teenagers too and they all loved hearing all the stories and the history of the places we visited! Would highly recommend!

I was guided very well through Maui and I am excited to continue to use the guide for my other stops on the islands. Only thing I could even mildly say is to possibly add the speed limit somewhere so that tourists know how fast to go on the mountains and highways. this app is awesome!

How is Shaka Guide Different from Other Navigation Apps?
Shaka Guide isn’t just about getting from point A to point B — it’s like having a tour guide in your car, sharing stories and local insights as you drive. Unlike other navigation apps, we’ve planned the route for you, so instead of focusing on directions, you can focus on the experience. This means you can’t customize the route, but that’s kind of the point. You’re still in control though, you can skip stops, go at your own pace, and explore freely. It’s not just about getting there; it’s about enjoying the journey.
