A sunset atop Haleakala — known as house of the sun in Hawaiian — is pure magic. You’ll be walking on sunshine, that is of course until the stars come out. Then, weather permitting, you’ll behold some of the best stargazing in the world. You'll be so close to the ...
Show MoreI heard about this app through ChatGPT and I was kind of skeptical, but to be honest, this is one of the most clutch things that we had for the entire Road to Hana ride because it told us every stop to make, and when to do it and they gave us history of Hawaii as we drove compared to just either listening to random music or just listening to no music and just being in silence
Conserious | 38 minutes ago | iOSDiscovered Shaka four years ago when in Maui. Purchased the Road to Hana guide and it was outstanding. Loved it so much that we stayed on the backside of the tour. We’re in Palm Springs this week, and visited JTNP today. Last minute decision to purchase the Shaka tour for the park. Honestly made the trip much more enjoyable - and efficient. I can’t fathom why anybody wouldn’t use this guide for this particular NP. Thank you for a great day, and well not make the mistake of traveling without Shaka in the future!
Mountndood | 1 day ago | iOSWe loved almost everything about our Shaka tour of Arches, Canyonlands, and La Sal Mountain Loop. I wish I had the option on 4 1/2 stars. The guide synced well with our GPS and we got through all three parks with ease. The narrative was interesting and we learned so much about the area. The music was an added bonus. We were also pleasantly surprised by the added bonus of guidance through Dead Horse Point State Park. Our glitch was at the end of the La Sal Mountain Loop we opted for the additional stop at Courthouse Wash to see petroglyphs. Twice the guide said the stop was 1/2 mile ahead but we weren't told where to stop. Other than that the Shaka guide was great! We also used Shaka for Maui and found it to be so helpful.

LadyAgate | 6 days ago | iOSWe used the Shaka guide in Maui for the Road to Hana 8 years ago and loved it. So we decided to try it again for the Big Island. We did the North island jungle loop tour today. It was so informative, easy to follow, and we all loved it. Even my impossible to please 16 year old daughter mentioned how cool it is- she was so into it, and was listening to every word and wanted to stop at all the stops. It was a great guide, we had a great day! Can’t recommend this enough. I bought the BI package, and we will be using the other tours this trip as well.

Lisaa1123 | 1 week ago | iOSReally enjoyed the narration of things to do mixed in with history and information. Would have missed out on many of our trips highlights. We had done the Road to Hana Shaka guide and loved it so tried this one above others. You won’t be disappointed! The only thing better would be more information and stories for the drive back.
Elrah43264 | 2 weeks ago | iOSWe first found out about Shaka Guide before our trip to Maui a couple years ago. From our 10-year-olds up to our 18-year-olds and ourselves, we all really enjoyed the guide, commentary, etc for our trip to Maui. Fast forward to last summer and we went to Glacier national Park and my son said it would be cool if there was a Shaka Guide for here… i’m glad we looked because we bought that Parks tour and it was equally informative and entertaining. This morning, I purchased Big Bend National Park, we used it for the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive today and will use it again tomorrow in the park. This really is one of the best apps! The whole family loves it.
ATM925 | 2 weeks ago | iOSThis is a must for road to Hana. Told us about every stop and great information on the way. Wouldn’t have known where to stop without this. Very well done and worth it.
KKG04! | 3 weeks ago | iOSNo, reservations are not required for sunset at Haleakala. If you’re unable to get sunrise reservations no worries! Just download our sunset tour and stay to watch the sun go down!

Dress warmly in layers for the Haleakala sunset. Temperatures drop significantly in the park, especially at high altitudes. We recommend you bring a jacket, hat, gloves, and blankets. You’ll also want to bring water and snacks.
