The Notom historical marker, ten minutes south of 24 on Notom Road, is a recent addition to the ghost town but a worthy stop for history enthusiasts. The marker gives a record of many of the inhabitants and even includes a song with lyrics written by the late Dr. Cline Durfey who grew up in Notom. Just behind and to the right of the marker is the gravesite of Elijah Cutler Behunin’s 14-year-old boy Elijah James who died after falling off his horse. Notom road is important today as part of the Loop the Fold driving tour and for allowing access to the lower district of the Waterpocket Fold.
