This tour has 15 stops. Check out the itinerary here for a complete list of stops and if you’re looking for more information to help plan your trip, here’s what you need to Know Before You Go! 

  • National Park Pass 
  • Cell phone (with tour downloaded!)
  • Car charger
  • Phone mount for car
  • Flashlight (optional - for sunrise/sunset hikes or stargazing) 
  • Binoculars (optional)
  • Trekking poles (recommended if hiking to Lassen Peak or Paradise Meadows)
  • Hiking shoes
  • Sunscreen & sunglasses 
  • Hat
  • Water 
  • Snacks and/or picnic food (Remember to pack up leftovers/don’t leave crumbs) *The only places to get food in the park are at the Lassen Cafe in the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center and the Camper Store at Manzanita Lake.
  • First aid kit/medications
  • Emergency roadside assistance kit
  • Swimsuit and towel if interested in swimming in Manzanita Lake

What you spend depends on the activities you do, but here’s a list of entry fees on the tour: 

  • Entrance to the park is $30 per vehicle.

Although the park is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the park’s facilities' hours of operation vary based on the season. The park also experiences seasonal road closures. We highly recommend you visit the park’s website before you go.

  • Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center
    • May 1 - Oct 31: Open 9 am to 5 pm Daily
    • Nov 1 - Apr 30: Open 9:30 am to 4:30 pm Wed-Sun
  • Loomis Museum
    • Summer Hours (June 18 - Oct 6)
      Open 9 am to 5 pm Thurs - Mon (Closed Tues/Wed)
    • Winter Hours (Oct 7 - Oct 27)
      Open 9 am to 5 pm Fri - Sun

Yes! The tour has four starting points: OR 89, north of Old Station; OR 44, east of Shingletown (coming from Redding); OR 36, west of Chester; and OR 36, west of Mineral (coming from Red Bluff). Just make sure that you follow the numbers in chronological order from where you are starting. 

If you don’t begin at one of the tour starting points you’ll miss a few stories, but you’ll still have a great experience.


Yes! You can take the tour south to north and north to south.
