What you spend depends on the activities you do, but here’s a list of entry fees on the tour:

  • Entrance to the park is $35 per vehicle.
  • Entrance to Boyden Caverns is $8-23 per person.
  • Optional food, drinks, and souvenirs.

Although the park is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the park’s facilities have varying hours of operation and many roads are closed in the winter months. We highly recommend you visit the park’s website for seasonal road closures.

Here are the hours of operation for the visitor centers and facilities in the park:

  • Kings Canyon Visitor Center and Village: Open year-round, unless closed due to weather or safety conditions. Open 8am-5pm during the summer, and 9am-4:40pm during the off season.
  • Boyden Caverns: Open as Highway 180 opens, typically late April to mid-November.
  • Cedar Grove Visitor Center: Memorial Day to mid-September 9am-5pm

Yes! The tour has three starting points: Generals Highway, from Sequoia National Park, near Montecito Sequoia Lodge; Highway 180, heading towards the Big Stump Entrance; and

Highway 245, heading towards the Big Stump Entrance. Just make sure that you follow the numbers in chronological order from where you are starting.

If you don’t begin at one of the tour starting points you’ll miss a few stories, but you’ll still have a great experience.

It depends - the full tour generally goes west to east, finishing at the end of the road in Kings Canyon. The short tour sticks close to Generals Highway and Grant Grove, and generally goes east to west or west to east.
