Planning a drive to Oahu’s famous north shore? Let me tell you about something you should be stopping by on the way - Waimea! There are two places to explore in Waimea - the Bay and the Valley. Waimea Bay is a gorgeous moon-shaped white-sand beach. But what you can do there depends on the time of the year and the conditions. During winter, the shorebreak is fierce and not suitable for casual swimming. However, when the water is calm, you can do all kinds of activities there, swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing. And if you want an adrenaline rush, there is a 20-ft rock that is popular for rock diving.

Waimea Valley, on the other hand, is a paid attraction. It has a beautiful botanical garden, a 1 ½ mile round-trip hike to a 45-ft waterfall, and a variety of historic sites significant to Hawaii’s very rich culture and history. Don’t worry - the trail is paved and suitable for family.
