Mokoli'i (Chinaman's Hat)
Nicknamed for its resemblance to the straw hats worn by early Chinese immigrants, Chinaman’s Hat (Mokoli’i Island) is a small island off of Oahu’s North coast near Kualoa Ranch.
The island has a long history in Hawaiian culture. In the past, the island and surrounding area were reserved for royalty.
Today, it is a popular sightseeing destination due to its photogenic nature. It is also possible to kayak to the island, and you may see hikers taking in the view from the top of the “hat”.
There’s a nice beach park to view Chinaman’s hat from, fitted with bathrooms and plenty of openings to get in the water.
